Downriver claimed by Czechs and New Zealand

The Downriver was a gruelling 14kms of rapids and rocks. They decided on sailing starts, meaning the rafts were free to move around above the finish line until the gun went. This did result in a few false starts and penalties, but none of these made a difference in the end.

New Zealand scoop up Slalom medals in all categories

All the teams say they love Slalom. It is the most challenging of the disciplines, demanding team work, water reading skilsl as well as stamina and endurance. Getting one’s six paddlers working well together gives them enormous satisfaction, even if they don’t win medals.

Youth World Rafting Champs wrap up with Downriver

The final day for the Youth teams was the Downriver, a hard, long paddle needing stamina and careful reading of the river to prevent getting slowed down or even stuck on rocks. Home advantage is definitely a plus here and the Indonesian teams proved themselves up to the task.

Indonesia comes shining through on day one

2015 World Rafting Champs opens!

The International Rafting Federation’s 2015 World Rafting Champs, Indonesia, were officially opened by Pelabuhan Ratu Indonesia Marine Commander, Major Jenderal (Mar) Buyung Lalana, in the city of Pelabuhan Ratu, Sukabumi District, West Java, Monday morning. Around 592 rafters and officials marched into the city courtyard.
