The first day of the Euro Rafting Champs saw the U19, U23 and Masters teams competing in Sprint and Head 2 Head.
The Sprint and Head to Head course makes for great photos and videos as the rafts have to go through two big wave hits and down into some strongly swirling water that can easily find you facing the wrong way. (See videos of the action on this section on our Youtube Channel and see the daily photos in the albums on our IRF Euro Rafting Championships Facebook page)
Only Men’s teams were competing in these divisions with seven U19 teams, eight U23 teams and five Masters teams competing. Each country is allowed to send their top two teams in each of these categories. The event is being held on the Vrbas River near Banja Luka in BiH and is being hosted by Kanjon Rafting Klub.

Day two saw the Open Men’s and Women’s teams competing in the Sprint and H2H this time.
In the Men’s Sprint Czech 2 scooped up the Gold medal for the Sprint, with Slovenia taking 2nd and the home crowd being treated to a great finish by BiH 1 Team for the Bronze medal.
Russia took another Gold by winning the Women’s Sprint, with Great Britain 1 taking Silver and Italy the Bronze. Great Britain 1 then added to their medal collection by beating Italy in the H2H Final to claim the Gold. Hungary deprived Russia of another medal by winning the B final for Bronze.
The Men’s H2H saw an all Russia final with Russia 2 beating Russia 1 and Slovenia taking the bronze medal by beating the home favourites, BiH 1.
The weather has been damp but it has not dampened the spirits of the teams or their supporters. Nor has it changed the cheerful and welcoming atmosphere laid on by the hosts!
Tomorrow is an evening of Slalom and the crowds are expected to come over from Banja Luka as the set up makes it very easy to get to and the night lights makes it spectacular to watch!
