The Under U19 and U23 rafters opened the first competing day of the European Rafting Championship today. Sprint and H2H races in rainy and cold weather could not dampen the excitement, fun of winning and results. Both race disciplines saw Turkey and Russia dominating the wins.
U19 Women started the event at 10 in the morning. Among the five participating teams from four different countries, a strong Russia 1 team won both the Sprint and the H2H, with the other teams falling into the same order for both disciplines.
In U19 Men Sprint, Turkey 2 took the Gold, but in the H2H it was Turkey 1 that left behind the strong Russian 1 team.
In both the U23 categories Russia won in the Sprint and H2H. The tussle in the Men’s category between Russia 1 and Czech 2 teams in the H2H was very close and extreme. Despite the rain and cool weather the fans were out there vigorously encouraging their teams.
Tomorrow will see the Masters Men, Open Men and Open Women racing in following disciplines – Sprint and H2H. Interesting, eye-catching and full of thrills – those are the expectations for tomorrow.
