River Vrbas draws us back for WRC 2021!

Breaking the mould and proving that raft racing is an enthralling and vibrant sport, the river Vrbas invited teams from across the globe to take part in the 2009 IRF World Rafting Championships. An event which saw racing take place over two rivers in two neighbouring countries and with the most exciting slalom spectacle under night lights, it was one that is recognised as iconic and not to be forgotten.

It is with great delight that we announce the IRF is returning to the Vrbas River for our World Rafting Championships! The last WRC held there was in 2009 and is considered one of the most successful events where we had a total of 53 Open teams (before other categories were introduced), more than 30,000 people attending the opening ceremony, and close to 25,000 spectators at the night slalom!

When: 30 May – 6 June 2021
Where: Vrbas River, Banja Luka, BiH
Host: Rafting Club Kanyon
Race Divisions: U19, U23, Open, Masters
Race Categories: Men, Women
Race Format: R6

Adding to an action packed racing calendar for 2020, Pre-Worlds will take place over the weekend of 03 – 05 July 2020. This event will also be part of the 2020 EC and WC Series. Teams from around the globe are invited to attend the pre-worlds to get a taste of the action – especially the engaging Bijeli Buk rapid in the Tijesno Canyon where teams will take on the pyramid waves and big boils for Sprint and Head-to-Head

More details will be published over the coming months.
