It all starts this weekend! The Troja Rafting Cup will open the postponed Czech racing season.
There was already one down river race in June at Trnávka, but Troja will be the first complete weekend race.
Troja is a Czech Cup R4 and at the same time there will be an IRF European Cup (R6) in slalom and sprint and Czech Championship R6. There will also be the very popular slalom race in R2. If travel restrictions allow it, you are all cordially welcome to join!
This Czech rafting season is very different to previous seasons (for obvious reasons!). Unfortunately, the entire spring part of the season with all the traditional downriver races had to be cancelled. This also applied to the IRF European Championship R4 + R6 which would have been in the Czech Republic in June.
Due to the unpredicable nature of the 2020 racing season, and to ensure fairness for training, SVoČR (Union of Boaters of the Czech Republic) has decided to “conserve” the national team the same as was after the racing season in 2019. Therefore, the Czech Cups and Czech Championships in R4 and R6 will not have any nomination possibilities.
However, SVoČR wants to support sport life and racing of Czech rafting, even just inside the Czech borders. Therefore SVoČR will support clubs in racing financially and pay all starting fees for all SVoČR registered teams!
Event organisers appeal to the personal responsibility of competitors to not join races if they do show any signs of health troubles (fever, muscle aches, coughs, etc.) and to not have been in contact with a person positive for Covid-19 in the previous two weeks.
The weekend after this one (the last one in August) is the next Czech and European Cup and Czech Championship in downriver race R4 and R6 on the very traditional and difficult course under the Lipno dam, on Devil´s Stream!
Because of postponing most races, September will be very demanding for Czech rafters. There are races almost every weekend in České Vrbné, Roudnice nad Labem and finally at Trnávka.
