Branislav Linkay, Marek Švorc, Denis Antalík, Róbert Paál, Samuel Kováčik and Michal Kubrický make up this great, young, U23 team from Slovakia who will participate in the forthcoming European Rafting Championship (ERC) in Georgia. We asked each of them to answer some questions for us:
Branislav Linkay
How did you find yourself in rafting? – I was doing kayaking and a raft trainer asked me if I wanted to join, so I did.
What do you like the most in this sport? – The thing I like the most is the team atmosphere at the races.
What are your expectations for the ERC Georgia? – I hope that we can perform the best we can and bring home a medal.
Denis Antalík
How did you find yourself in rafting? – Friends asked me to substitute one of their members. I didn’t know what was going on in the raft but I liked it.
What do you like the most in this sport? – Slalom, cooperation, challenge.
What are your expectations for the ERC Georgia? – I’m really looking forward to the after party.
Marek Švorc 
How did you find yourself in rafting? – I was looking for other water sports as kayaking was not that much fun anymore.
What do you like the most in this sport? – 6 man 1 goal.
What are your expectations for the ERC Georgia? – Winning is my passion.
Michal Kubrický
How did you find yourself in rafting? – My friends needed someone for their team and I was already semi-experienced since I did kayak slalom previously, so they called me and here I am!
What do you like the most in this sport? – I really love the opportunity to travel the world and to see beautiful rivers all around it.
What are your expectations for the ERC Georgia?- To meet new people and to be the best we possibly can!
Róbert Paál
How did you find yourself in rafting? – My teammates asked me. Basically they created an R4 team and I just agreed.
What do you like the most in this sport?- Travelling is what I like the most. Discovering new countries and people is pretty fun too !
What are your expectations for the ERC Georgia? – I expect to show to other competitors that we can perform really well even with new crew members.
Samuel Kováčik
How did you find yourself in rafting? – My teammate did this sport for a while and he asked me if I was interested in joining the team. Since I had some experience with kayaking I agreed.
What do you like the most in this sport? – The fact that it’s a team sport and its all about cooperation.
What are your expectations for the ERC Georgia? – I don’t have any expectation but I hope we can perform well.

Another new challenge is in front of these young guys. New river, new places, new people, tough competition… there will be something for each of them. In this new adventure we wish them a good stroke and a good time in Georgia.
