Czech racing season in full swing
After a series of many canceled spring races, sport rafting has finally arrived. The 2021 season began at the beginning of June with the R6 Championship of the Czech Republic in Roudnice nad Labem. This event was also the first of the series of races in the IRF’s Euro Cup Series in R6.
The organizers of this year’s first race in Roudnice nad Labem (KV Viking Mladá Boleslav) were still limited by pandemic restrictions, so the race had to take place in a more modest form, without spectators and award ceremonies. Despite all the limitations, the atmosphere on the course was fantastic and there was definitely no difference since last we were racing.
The champions of the Czech Republic in the R6 category among women in the slalom and sprint became the Prostějov crew of TR Omega Tygříci, among men the Championship in both disciplines was dominated by the crew of the organizing section of the PRŠI Team Mladá Boleslav.
The junior category under 19 was won by the crew from Raft Team Jeseník. The crew from the same section of the Youngster YES R6 also won the championship slalom in the category of juniors under 23, they were beaten in the sprint by the boys from the AC Rafting Team.
In the veteran category, the “home” crew of the organizing club – MB veteran – won again.
In addition to the R6 Championship, the 1st cup race in the R4 category and the R2 Baraka Cup doubles race also took place in Roudnice.
The Czech Rafting Cup 2021 is moving from Roudnice to the south of Bohemia, where the 19th-20th June 2021. In Český Vrbný, it will not be possible to ride on larger rafts in six-member teams, but it will also be about medals.
For the first time in the history of Czech rafting, the Czech Republic Championship in the contact elimination race, in the discipline “Head to Head”, will take place in Český Vrbný. H2H is a discipline that is very well known to all our representatives. At world races of the highest level, at the European and World Championships, H2H is an integral part of the program.
The organizers, the České club section Outdoor club HANACE from České Budějovice, have prepared, in addition to the traditional slalom, attractive H2H and the R2 doubles race, another great novelty. Embedded public race in mixed team slalom – R4 MIX. The condition for the start is the presence of 2 women and 2 men in the crew, regardless of age. It seems that the “Mixes” race could be the most busy category of the whole race weekend.
