65 teams registered for World Rafting Champs 2022

With registration recently closing we can now confirm that 65 teams have registered for the 2022 World Rafting Championships being held in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from the 25 May to the 1 June. These 65 teams will represent 22 countries from around the world in men’s and women’s divisions and in Under 19, Under 23, Open, and Masters (40+) categories.

Three years since last WRC

With the last World Rafting Championship having been three years ago in May 2019 on the Tully River in Australia, teams are very keen to once again be competing at the highest level, and enjoying time with their fellow rafting friends from around the world.

Organisers in full swing

The WRC BiH Organisers are in full swing to make it a memorable WRC, one to rival their record breaking WRC in 2009 in the same location. Night slalom will once again be happening, the Downriver will once again be in the stunning Tara River gorge, and we expect the opening ceremony to be attended once again by many thousands of supporters from the city of Banja Luka where the event will be based for the first three disciplines of Sprint, Head-to-Head and Slalom.

Actions in Ukraine - handsCall for peace and no war

With the backdrop of the brutal war that is taking place marring the lead up to this WRC what the IRF will be doing, and our members can do, is take advantage of the world stage provided by the WRC, to publicly support Ukraine and emphatically denounce this war along with all forms of war and aggression.

“It is our intention to make the focus of the 2022 WRC about the importance and necessity of unity, cooperation and peace in today’s world, and not about national pride or competition winners and losers.” says President Joe Willis Jones.
