The GTE Conference 2024 will be held on the Sarapiqui river, Costa Rica. Sarapiqui is approximately two hours drive from Juan Santamaria international airport in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The Sarapiqui river is a tributary of the San Juan river, and was host to the Downriver race of the World Rafting Championships 2011. Our base for the conference will be at Aventuras del Sarapiqui.

The conference is open to all GTE Instructors (including Provisional) who are current or have recently lapsed or expired. The target audience are Costa Rican nearby international Instructors, however, Instructors from other areas of the world are also welcome to attend.

Attendance at an official GTE Instructor Assessment or GTE Instructor Conference at least once every three years is required for all Instructors to maintain their certification (see page 17 of GTE Award System v6.0).

Successful completion of the GTE Conference 2024 will renew Instructor certification for a further three years (new expiry would be October 2027), subject to also holding a current and valid first aid certifcate.

All outstanding GTE assessment fees from previous workshops need to be paid in full before successful completion of the Instructor Conference.

This year’s GTE Conference will run from Monday, 28 October through to Thursday, 31 October inclusive. Each day will be a full day of activities and sessions. The conference will be very “hands on” with theory sessions followed by practical sessions to build on the knowledge sharing in theory and dry-land sessions.

Attendees are expected to arrive ready to start the conference at 09:00am on Monday, 28 October. Lunch will be provided each day as part of the conference package.

An accommodation package has been agreed with local ecotourism operator Selva Verde Lodge & Reserve. Conference attendees can avail of the package or make their own arrangements for accommodation, breakfasts and dinners.
