As the year draws to a close, we welcome our latest IRF Guide Training & Education (GTE) Assessor, Fabián Alejandro Bonanno. Fabián joins our existing team of Assessors to bring the total to thirteen (13) across the globe. Fabián’s command of four languages makes him an asset to our team and is regularly delivering workshops and assessments in eastern Europe and Latin America.
Fabián started guiding on the Juramento river in Argentina in 1996. In May 2009, he became an IRF GTE Raft Instructor and in July 2017, he added IRF GTE Safety Kayak Instructor to his accolades. Over the years, Fabián has certified over 175 IRF GTE certificates and continues to be an active member of the rafting and kayaking community.
In July 2021, Fabián was nominated to join the GTE Committee which oversees the development and drive in expanding guide qualifications. In August 2021, he was unanimously accepted to join the Committee and has been an active member since.
Fabián Alejandro Bonanno in his own words:
I am super happy to have climbed one more step. Thankful to the GTE Committee members for the time dedicated to my growth, and to family and friends that helped is this process.
This new position represents a very great responsibility. There is a lot of work behind all this, and it is right there where the mission becomes more arduous. My main objective is to train and promote new instructors in America, help and collaborate with all of them to organise workshops and high-level courses; promote the IRF mission, the GTE programme, where safety, administration, pedagogy, risk assessment, and all other standards are a harmonious set.
We are always working on improving. I announce that all those who have any concern, idea, proposal, or something can do so by contacting me. I also clarify that we can communicate in Spanish and Portuguese.
Welcome, congratulations and thanks Fabián Alejandro Bonanno – IRF #RiverFamily member
